With one of the editors on strike as part of the “Day Without Women,” we’ve decided to not publish a full post today. In the words of the organizers of the “Day Without Women,” we want to recognize “the enormous value that women of all backgrounds add to our socio-economic system–while receiving lower wages and experiencing greater inequities, vulnerability to discrimination, sexual harassment, and job insecurity.”

So in honor of International Women’s Day, please enjoy this speech from Shirley Chisolm, an African-American congresswoman who ran for president in 1972, regarding women’s rights.
